Our Story

Internationella Engelska Skolan in Liljeholmen opened its doors in August 2014 with a modest school body of just over 350 students. The school started with just three of its eventual seven floors complete and a teaching staff of 25.

Our principal Jonas Gehlin began his teaching career at IES Bromma where he taught SO, he quickly rose to the position of Head of Department, then entered the school management team as Academic Manager and soon after, Assistant Principal. This experience allows him a great deal of perspective and appreciation for all facets of school life.

In the school’s second year it doubled in size, with the 5th and 6th floors been unveiled and a large influx of new staff and students. The school’s house system was also launched this year, each student is placed into one of four houses (Curie, Nobel, Bell or Newton) and work together on various sporting, social and cultural endeavours throughout the year.

Next year the 7th floor of our building will be completed and we will see our first two classes of year 9’s graduate. We are very proud of the school we have created and look forward to our continued success in the future.
